We’re proud to share our latest sustainability update and to reaffirm our commitment to being a carbon neutral agency.
Every year, we work with independent specialist agency Alectro to audit and report on our carbon emissions. This year’s report reflects who we are as a growing business: a team doing meaningful, global work and taking genuine responsibility for the environmental footprint that comes with it.
The headline? We remain carbon neutral. Through a combination of responsible operational choices and investment in high-quality carbon offset projects, we continue to balance our total emissions.
Scope 1 & 2: Already at Zero
Our office electricity is fully covered by a renewable energy tariff, and we operate with no company vehicles. That means our Scope 1 (direct) and Scope 2 (indirect energy) emissions remain at zero. As a result, we’ve already achieved and our 2030 and 2050 reduction targets for these scopes.
Responsible Growth
Our headcount has grown, and with it our absolute emissions have increased slightly. But critically, our emissions per employee have held stable at 1.67 tCO2e year-on-year.
How We Get to Work
One of the more encouraging findings in this year’s data is how our team travels to the office. Most employee commuting is done by train, with low-carbon kilometres making up a strong proportion of total commute distance.
Our team also backs this up with their values. The majority of employees agree that working for an organisation that takes its environmental responsibilities seriously is important to them.
International Travel: Being Honest
Flights remain our single largest emissions source, accounting for nearly half of our total footprint. We’re taking this seriously and rethinking how we plan travel going forward. We’re considering whether trips can be combined, if alternatives exist, and whether the emissions cost is proportionate to the value of the trip.
Our Offset Investment: Safe Water in Rwanda
To counterbalance our remaining emissions, we’re continuing to support the Safe Water Project in Rwanda. This organisation repairs boreholes to provide safe drinking water to communities in some of the world’s least developed areas.
Over 280,000 people across Rwanda and Bangladesh benefit from these Gold Standard-verified projects. The work supports UN Sustainability Development Goals 3, 5, 6, and 13. It’s impact we’re genuinely proud to be part of.
We’re aware there is still much to do in this area, but we’re pleased with the progress we’ve made so far, and we’ll continue to be transparent about our journey.
