World Sailing has appointed independent Sports Marketing Agency Redtorch to accelerate its digital transformation and engagement ahead of the LA28 Olympic Games. 

The partnership brings together World Sailing’s ambition to grow the sport’s global audience with Redtorch’s unique combination of Olympic expertise and in-house research, comms and creative delivery. 

The partnership has three distinct phases: 

Phase 1 – Finding sailing’s biggest opportunity (diagnosis): combining Redtorch’s SportOnSocial data, digital analysis and cultural and competitor research to identify where the sport has the greatest opportunity to grow.

Phase 2 – Making the choices (strategy): turning these research insights into choices that will help World Sailing win digitally and make the most impact. 

Phase 3 – Building relevance year-round: (tactics) applying those insights and choices through content, creative and communications that help sailing show up in more meaningful ways, more often whilst building long-term brand equity. 

Using SportOnSocial, Redtorch’s proprietary audience intelligence platform, the team will analyse more than a decade of behavioural data from Olympic audiences, alongside wider cultural trends and digital performance insights, to identify new opportunities for future growth. 

Rather than focusing solely on events and updates, the partnership will explore the wider culture that makes sailing unique; from adventure and exploration to technology, lifestyle and the communities that bring the sport to life.
